Francesca Monti, Ph.D.

Yoga is my love. I have been studying and practising yoga since I was thirteen; it has always sustained and guided me through the inevitable challenges of life.

The arrival of my twins, nearly 12 years ago, was an opportunity to reconsider my purpose and values in life. Before the birth of my children, I used to work as an academic researcher at UCL and a museum consultant. However, this career became incompatible with my role as a mother and carer to a child with additional needs.

In these circumstances, yoga gave me the support tools necessary to be make positive changes to my new life.

I initially trained with Jyoti Jo Manuel, at Special Yoga, when I was seeking ways to help my son manage his difficulties. I went on to pursue further extensive studies with Colin Dunsmuir, in the tradition of Professor Sri Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar. I am a fully qualified Yoga teacher and a Yoga therapist (1000 hours BWY diploma). But learning never stops, so I am now studying Vedic chanting with my mentor, Bea Teuten, and undertaking further training with my teacher Colin Dunsmuir.

I am particularly interested in the individual, whatever their age, health condition and physical ability.Whether in a 1:1 session or in a group setting I always start from the premise that each one of us is wonderfully unique. I endeavour to make my teaching personalised, compassionate and joyful, trying to help people make positive differences to their mind, body and life.
I hold DBS check and first aid training.
